Hi, I’m Kristina. I’m a bilingual journalist who’s passionate about politics and storytelling.

I graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in journalism and political science. A native German speaker who’s lived in four countries and eight cities, I’m interested in everything from census funding to overseas voting and Senate procedure, and telling stories that matter to readers and help them engage with the political process.

The Hill

2022 – present

I co-write Morning Report, The Hill’s daily morning newsletter. We provide a comprehensive guide to national politics and news affecting readers in the Beltway and beyond every morning, with context and depth to help you start your day.

The Modesto Bee
Report for America

2020 – 2022

I was the Bee’s economic development and housing reporter and a member of the 2020-21 class of Report for America. My beat focused on economic recovery and development, as well as housing development, in Modesto, Stanislaus County and the North San Joaquin Valley. I wrote about everything from PPP loan distribution (CNPA 2020 finalist), to the barriers to housing development in Modesto, the disproportionate economic effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on local women and plans for a local baseball stadium.

The Washington Monthly

2020

As an editorial intern, I did longer-form policy reporting, worked as a fact-checker and copy-editor, and did upkeep and social media for the Monthly’s blog, Political Animal. Additionally, I reported on overseas voting, COVID-19 related abortion legislation, and student debt cancellation proposals.
